I first learned about SWOTs in college and, at the time (oh so many years ago), didn’t understand just how useful a SWOT analysis could be in my everyday life. Today, using a simple SWOT template as the one provided here can help me sort through a big decision or business opportunity.

In a nutshell, a SWOT Analysis is a tool to help analyze your own or your organization’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. A SWOT is a framework to help you identify key factors that could work for or against you in any given situation or decision. Think of it as a more detailed pros vs. cons list. Use this template to help think through a decision, a strategy for your business or group or personal goal setting.

Have you used a SWOT analysis before? How did (or didn’t) it help you work through your decision or opportunity?
